The Fraxel SR laser developed by Reliant Technologies, Inc. (Mountain View, CA) represents the first and only dermatologic laser system to employ fractional resurfacing as an approach to non-ablative skin rejuvenation.  The Fraxel laser is specifically designed to achieve significant clinical efficacy of ablative skin resurfacing with an improved safety profile and reduced side effects.

Most Fraxel Laser treatments take 30-45 minutes and can be done using a topical anesthetic ointment.  The treated area will become mildly swollen and tender for a couple of days.  The skin does not peel and you do not need healing creams or masks.  Most patients require a series of 4 or 5 treatments to obtain the optimal results from the Fraxel laser.

This patient is relaxing in our treatment room as the nursing staff applies the topical anesthetic ointment to the face.  A blue color is added to aid in the laser process.
